SR-9011
What is SR-9011?
SR-9011 is a research compound developed by Professor Thomas Burris of the Scripps Research Institute. It acts as an agonist for Rev-ErbAα and has a half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 790 nM for Rev-Erbα and 560 nM for Rev-ErbAβ.
This connection is primarily used in research on the regulation of the circadian rhythm, and the possible implications of that for the immune system, inflammatory processes, and cancer.
Properties and applications in research
SR-9011 belongs to the second generation of Rev-ErbA activators. Preclinical studies have shown that SR-9011 accumulates in various tissues such as:
- Lever
- Skeletal muscles
- Adipose tissue
- Brain
The effects of SR-9011 are therefore studied in various research domains, including metabolism, inflammation, and neurobiology.
