Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), 50ml

Sale price€7,50

Dimethyl sulfoxide (commonly abbreviated to DMSO) is the organic compound with the chemical formula C2H6SO. This colorless liquid is an important polar aprotic solvent. It is miscible with a large number of organic solvents, as well as with water. DMSO is quickly absorbed through the skin. It is a by-product in wood pulp making.

DMSO is regularly used as a solvent in a number of chemical reactions. It is a powerful organic solvent: it dissolves a large number of organic compounds, including carbohydrates, polymers, peptides and many inorganic salts and gases. Some substances dissolve as much as 50 to 60 percent by weight (as opposed to most solvents where this is 10 to 20%).

NB!

We regularly receive questions and comments about the fact that the DMSO is not liquid upon delivery. This is normal with this product, explanation below.

DMSO has a melting point around 18,5 °C this means that it is liquid above this temperature. Below this temperature it will solidify and you will see crystal formation in the bottle. It is therefore possible that if this product is bought in winter, it has congealed during transport due to the low temperature. By placing the bottle at room temperature near the heater for a few hours, it becomes liquid again. This has no influence on the quality and is part of the properties of this fabric.
