Wat is Vinpocetine?

Vinpocetine is a synthetic derivative of vincamine, an alkaloid that occurs naturally in the plant Vinca minor. In research, Vinpocetine is known for its potential influence on cerebral blood flow, cognitive functions, and neuroprotection.

Researchers have investigated Vinpocetine on parameters such as memory, anti-inflammatory effects, mitochondrial function, and neuronal protection. The mechanism of action appears to be partly related to the inhibition of phosphodiesterase type 1 (PDE1) and sodium channels.
